Age Concern Day Care Centre, Newquay, 2008

Students worked at the centre for several days, networking for broadband and installing the pcs, the centre users were then given basic internet training by TA students. The students were featured in the Newquay Voice and BBC Spotlight recorded an interview as part of Silver Surfers Awareness Day.

Visit to the University of Plymouth 2004

On the 10th March the Technicians' Academy visited the Department of Computing at the University of Plymouth. We spent the morning in one of the University labs making a network cable tester. All the students gained experience in assembling and soldering, which for many was the first time they had held a soldering iron. In the afternoon we had a tour of the laboratories and a talk about some of the courses on offer at the university. The day was enjoyed by staff and students alike. Below are some pictures of the trip.
